About me
Hi, I’m Gareth. I'm web specialist based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. I've produced digital experiences for organisations including the British Film Institute, the University of Auckland, Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum, Vodafone, the New Zealand Heart Foundation, and Chorus.

A bit about how I got here
I originally trained to be an archaeologist, but after moving to England to explore a master’s in forensic archaeology, I landed a job at the web host Rapidsite - and have worked in the digital space ever since.
Rapidsite was acquired by Verio/NTT, and not long after, I joined the British Film Institute’s web team, collaborating with their brilliant marketing and education departments. Since then, I’ve worked across public and private sectors, always at the intersection of content, design, and technology.
These days, I'm the senior website manager at Chorus, working between product, marketing and technology teams to deliver digital experiences.
You can find more about my professional experience over LinkedIn.
This is my personal site, where I write about the web, genealogy, history, music, and food, and share what I’m making along the way.

Site logo
The favicon and logo you’ll see on some pages borrow their design from the flag of Glamorgan (Baner Morgannwg), which features three red chevrons on a silver-white field. That flag, in turn, was based on the arms of Iestyn ap Gwrgant, the last independent ruler of Glamorgan — the region where much of my Welsh family originates.
